Coccothrinax proctorii

Current bid: $5.00

Coccothrinax proctorii (Proctor’s silver palm) is a small to medium, solitary fan palm endemic to the Cayman Islands, forming a neat crown atop a slender trunk. Its deeply divided palmate leaves are dark green above and strikingly silvery white beneath, giving the foliage a luminous look in full sun. In the wild it is very slow-growing, occurring on dry, rocky limestone in open woodlands and thickets across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. Well suited to bright, well-drained, alkaline sites, it shows good tolerance of coastal exposure and salt spray.
